Best college dorms and best food?

Smith College

Students live in "houses" not dorms and eat in dining rooms, not cafeterias. Excellent food.

i've heard wake dorms are amazing.

UVA's new dorms are really nice. The food, however, is famously terrible.

Clearly our priorities are in order. Let's select a university based on how delicious the caprese salad is

Another vote for Cornell - great food!

Is it true UVA dorms don't have air conditioning? DS refuses to apply or even visit if this is true. Is is also true that they don't have enough dorms, so it is a scramble to get off campus housing?

The upscale dorm & fine collegiate dining? Fucking ridiculous.

+1.

There are definitely UVA dorms w/o AC. Touring with my high schoolers I was surprised to see so many (freshman) dorms were the exact same as when DH and I were in college. I just assumed dorms had been upgraded in 30 years. Regarding AC, the kids survive without it and I wouldn't put it on a list as a "mst have."

The food at UCLA is fantastic for dining hall fare.

New poster here. Why the rolling eyes? Smith has never made a "most expensive colleges" list. I can testify from experiences that the houses, which lodge maybe 30 to maybe 100, are very nice. Some houses don't have their own kitchens and have to go to other houses for meals.

At Columbia about 60% of freshmen (it may even be higher), including DC, get singles. Shoeboxes, but still singles.

That would be a negative for me.
