What made you quit?

I got a new, better job. In this economy I would not consider quitting any job without an offer in hand. Too risky.

I've posted before about this. Coworker almost killed someone and was not reprimanded. Instead, my boss used someone else as a scapegoat and fired her. A month later, coworker nearly killed someone else (this person actually flat lined in the OR) and she STILL wasnt fired. I quit. I guess a few months later she finally got fired.

Are you talking about quit in a moment of anger? That hasn't happened.
But I've left several jobs that weren't all they could have been. One because of colleagues who were bullies (and yes, I mean that word). One because of a boss who was ADHD, a workaholic, and completely at odds with the organization.

Was it a restaurant?

This sounds a lot like my current situation. Did you quit without something else lined up? Did you land on your feet?

Yes, because most people flat line in a restaurant. Was it KFC?

Boss who routinely refused to let me present my work, who yelled at people, and who, perhaps most importantly was not half as smart as I am.

Few months later he was fired. I texted him a photo of myself and another one of his directs having a drink with the caption "congrats."

Hope that dick move doesn't come back to bite you, bro.

a super krappy, control-freak managing director. her group has the worst turnover at our organization. I can't believe I stayed more than a couple years.

No, i was a nurse at an orthopedic surgeon's office. She was a secretary and gave out the wrong sample of medication to a patient. Luckily they called the nurse on call before injecting it. The other one was when she received lab results for a patient and forgot to give them to the doctor. The patient had a severe infection. I could go on and on about this office. Luckily for yoi guys, it isnt anywhere near DC

My sympathies. You are not alone. I was in a company where another section was ruled by a control freak. I was lucky. I had a great section manager. I was so relieved not to have to work for the control freak and was sorry for the people who did.

I quit when my second child, at 18 months, was hospitalized for the third time in an 8 month period for a respiratory issue. There were 3 other times when he would have been hospitalized, but the doctor's office knew we had the equipment at home. One of the balls we were juggling had to go.

A guy who started at the same time, who was less qualified, got promoted ahead of me.

There must be some sort of medical regulator you can report this to. Please do so -- she may actually kill an innocent person if you don't.

Passive aggressive boss, who had a mental breakdown, came back and was bizarre, controlling, unpredictable, bully etc. Should have quit sooner than I did but keep thinking I would be promoted to her spot since she didn't do a lick of work but made us all miserable. Finally realized life was better without the stress and so glad I finally left.
