How do you clean a self cleaning oven?

No you are not irrational, I am the 1246 poster and I had an inferno in my oven. I was sacred sh*!less and thought I was going to burn the house down. Obviously it was fine but I was really freaked out for a while. Maybe I need to clean the oven more often since apparently it was REALLY dirty

I am the PP who cleans my oven overnight. I do worry about fire, so I always wipe out any spills before I start it and I always keep smoke detectors in good working order. Maybe this isn't such a good idea - I'll have to rethink next time I do it.
