Obama and Nancy...

Are you really trying to defend Sarah? To be honest, if she had said it, I would have chuckled because I would be surprised that she had any sense of humor.

"Boy", uh ?

It may not be easy speaking w/o a teleprompter, but I bet it was easy for you to share your racist views while posting anonymously.

I'm sure PP had no more intention to be racist than Obama had to insult Nancy. We should all lighten up.

I can't lighten up when PP was certainly being smug by writing - "I guess speaking isn't so easy without the teleprompter." There's an obvious condescending tone underlying THAT statement. Furthermore, he's suggesting that the media will go easy on Obama simply because he's "their boy," which is just wrong on SO many levels. Give the man a chance. He's worked hard to reach this level, and he's tired. He may have made a mistake, but he instantly apologized.

I do agree that there is a double standard which permeates the tone of this thread.

I am not a Reagan fan, but the fact is that Hillary and Mary Todd Lincoln were more prone to this kind of action. The allegation was that Nancy Regan consulted an astrologer to help with Ronnie's scheduling, something the former president and his staff denied. While "Californian" in nature, it is not as freaky as trying to call the dead.

I also agree that the media will not "harp" on this the way it would if it had been McCain or Palin.

Hillary has spent a lot of time hanging out with those who have religion as a business. Seems like hours during the work week when she could have had other activities like volunteering in schools or hospitals. It takes a village.

C'mon. It's not that big of a deal. He's a human being and he's tired and he's going to make some mistakes.
It's really insignificant in the scheme of things. People seem to be expecting 100% perfection from him at all times and I'm sure he's feeling the weight of these expectations.

Right. Given that presidents are human, we have two choices: Accept the fact that they will sometimes say things they would not have planned to say, or complain about the fact that they never appear in unscripted situations.

Better to have a president who apologizes for a dumb mistake now and then than one who hides from the press.

Wish you people had been as tolerant of Bill Clinton's Jessie Jackson flub or Hillary's sniperfire comment.

Don't you love how the press ignored Joe Biden saying he was shot at in Iraq? Then there was his helicopter that was "forced down" in Afghanistan. It was actually grounded by. . . snow.

Something you might want to think about: Aren't terms like "you people" the essence of intolerance?

Not meant to be catty; just a comment on the thought processes we fall into.

Sorry Sarah Palin deserves a different vibe. She has blown so many questions, she no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt. You have to be trustworthy in order to be trusted.

Yeah, starting with her foreign policy experience response. I can see Russia from my front door. That's what started the snowball that turned into an avalanche.

Hmm, I am surprised that (IMHO) the comment about Nancy is frankly, so innocuous. "I'm not going to have seances or anything". So? It's kinda funny.

No big deal, next story please....
