My friend is a social worker in the DCPS and she makes almost 100k and get summers off.

I was going to add that my friends who are in this field live in the sf Bay Area, make around 100k and are comfortable (and single!).

I am a SW - I make about 70K, but also married someone who makes 2x what I make. Plus, we live way out in the 'burbs.

I always feel good about my salary (it is more than what many SWers make, and would be considered a decent salary for outside this area) until I hear what others make.

Interesting thread....well I'm a social worker and make 85,000. Have been in the field for 15 years and have an LCSW. Live in Virginia suburbs. My husband makes more than I do (federal employee) but he also has advanced degrees. I work with a very challenging (but rewarding) population.
