Has anyone had laparoscopic gallbladder surgery?

I don't get you Type A "100%" people. Anything that gives me a sanctioned period of relaxation, I'll take.

You may not mind, but would the other people mind?

If you cancel last minute due to complications from surgery you knew would be scheduled seems rather flaky and unprofessional.

I would ask your doctor if there are other issues other than the lifting. You will most likely be dehydrated and flying will make you more so.

When I had laparoscopic surgery, I vomited a lot even the next day as a reaction to the anesthetic. Apparently, it's a common side effect. This would be even less fun at the airport or on a plane.

I had it last year took 2 days off I was in a bit of pain but I have a desk job so what's the difference between sitting on a couch at home or behind a desk?

I had it on a Thursday and was back at work on Monday. It wasn't because I felt good enough to be back. My boss was a demanding pain in the ass.

What was most painful was the incision in the abdominal wall. Walking too far left me in a lot of pain for about a week. I wouldn't be able to lift my bags or walk through and airport a few days after surgery.

My surgeon said I couldn't drive for 2 weeks. I did, but there is insurance risk in ignoring that order.

I had it on a Thursday and was also back at work on a Monday. I felt a little stiff and sore and would not have wanted to do anything super-strenuous, but walking at a normal pace was fine, as was sitting at a desk, going to meetings, and generally managing the routine activities of daily life. I'd have been fine on a short business trip. Everyone's different, though, so your mileage may vary.
