I second Macy's Hotel Collection. They feel soft, but are durable. |
I just got a brand new set. They are already discolored from something I wiped on them after washing my hands. It's either Bio Oil or tanning lotion. So annoying. |
Ditti. They're fabulous. I've had mine for years and they're still like new. They're great quality too. |
my towels and sheets always get these "bleach" stains too - this makes so much sense that it comes from our soaps - thank you for this! but now, does anyone know how to prevent this (besides changing the types of soap we use)? Washing hands would work but not when I use the towel to dry my face. it seems that many people do NOT have this problem, so are you just not using dark colored towels after washing your face/hands? |
Switch brands of soap to something without benzoyl peroxide. |
Or yes, get lighter colored towels. |
Can you say made in China.. just poor quality... I never use bleach and my new towels are all stained up but not the old ones.... I wish I could find towels made in America. |
We need to stop blaming ourselves, as women often do, it is the poor quality of the towels all made in China. |
We have Wamsutta towels, going on 10 years and no problems other than a few threads. Washed weekly. |
The best towels I own are the thomas o'brien set I bought from Target 10 years ago. I don't think they are available anymore but I'm following for recommendations |
Or buy white towels. I only buy white towels, and I bleach them. this has the added benefit of keeping the washer from ever smelling musty. I love the smell of a lightly bleached towel. |
My lighter colored towels are all bleached out too. My friend suggests buying new towels and just keep returning them until the stores get the idea that they need to find quality manufacturers. I very much like her idea. |
I reluctantly switched to all white towels years ago. I kept buying expensive Pottery Barn towels in fancy colors and they were the worst - would spot on the first wash. I have had good luck with high end towels - bought some Matouk ones that have held up well. I also have some target ones that are holding up well - they were expensive by target standards but I forget the brand. |
I keep having the problem that no matter what I do, my towels come out of the dryer smelling mildewy. It's gross.
Are you saying that the reason is that I'm not washing them in hot enough water? I thought it was my old washing machine.... |
Add white vinegar to the wash with the towels. |
