Don't bother. It's as though you're talking to a rock (and you probably are). Save your energy for the polls - and for watching the returns. There's no sense in arguing with Palin supporters as they should probably be labeled in the DSM Manual.

Not a Palin supporter but do love the irony of your redundant reply.

Being redundant is not a "disorder" found in the DSM.

Ah, but "DSM Manual" is.

ahhh - good to know that you like to brag about your knowledge . . . According to the DSM, you're likely to be diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder, a disorder affecting may Republicans.

15:59 again. Oh, c'mon, there are Democratic pedants! (I spent lots of time in graduate school with them....sigh...)

Nope, I'm just a Democrat and a psychologist who just enjoyed the irony of someone posting an anti-Palin crack by referring to the "DSM Manual." It's almost as good as "HIV virus." As for NPD, I do a lot of research on personality disorders and I can tell you there's no literature suggesting that Republicans have higher rates of it. If you know anything at all about personality disorder prevalence data, you must have been joking. And as for myself personally, I come closest to a diagnosis of OCD or OCPD, but I try to work on it. Unfortunately, graduate school and the academic life tend to reinforce OC traits in a big way. Not healthy, that's for sure.

And the other poster is right: Pedantry is probably evenly distributed across parties.

Pedant here. 15:59/16:44: You know most faculty are Democrats. And pedantic too. The pedantic grad students are just as bad, though!

Yes, graduate school sucks up all the perfectionists and then they have a tough time finishing their dissertations -- one reason why it took me 9 years to finish!
From a recovering perfectionist!

I nominate myself as a case in point. And to prove my pedantry I'll argue that "guilty" is a self-deprecatory confession, not bragging.

As to being Democratic, Gobama!!!

Guilty or innocent--soon, she'll be Alaska's problem again. I'm counting the minutes.

Psychologist - found this other posting re: Obama . . . thoughts?

Vaknin is a world authority on narcissism. He understands it and describes
the inner mind of a narcissist like no other person. When he talks about
narcissism everyone listens. Vaknin says that Obama's language, posture
and demeanor, and the testimonies of his closest, nearest and dearest
suggest that the Senator is either a narcissist or he may have
narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).

Narcissists project a grandiose but false image of themselves. Jim Jones,
the charismatic leader of People's Temple, the man who led over 900 of his
followers to cheerfully commit mass suicide and even murder their own
children was also a narcissist. Charles Manson, Joseph Koni, Shoko
Asahara, Joe Stalin, Saddam, Mao Zedong, Kim Jong IL , and Adolph Hitler
are a few examples of narcissists of our time. All these men had a
tremendous influence over their fanciers and followers. They created a
personality cult around themselves, and with their blazing speeches
elevated their admirer's souls, filled their hearts with enthusiasm and
instilled in their minds a new zest for life. Those men gave their
followers hope! They promised them the moon, but alas, they invariably
brought them to their doom. When you are a victim of a cult of
personality, you don't know it until it is too late.
