Did you all see that Palin has been found innocent of ethical lapses in Troopergate: http://cnnwire.blogs.cnn.com/2008/11/03/2nd-probe-clears-palin-in-trooper-case/
Despite the fact that the commission was appointed by her, the facts forced them to exonerate her. Bravely, they ignored the fact that it was the day before the election and announced their findings. She may be a maverick, but her appointees are apparently more on the sycophantic side. |
Political appointees serve at the pleasure of the executive. Period. I cannot wait to hear the overwhelming condemnation her on DCUM when a Dem. to fires a political appointee that they disagree with. So not going to happen! |
Maybe they're just trying to make her transition from VP candidate to mayor an easy one! |
Too bad the exoneration came too late for Sarah, she's already been tried, convicted and practically burned at the stake by the MSM. |
State troopers don't. Face it - this woman was a whack job. You should thank your lucky stars there may be enough sensible people voting today that you won't be saddled with this vindictive, ignorant, superstitious morally-bankrupt liar as your Vice-President. |
She didn't fire a state trooper. She fired an appointee. You may be right, I don't feel comfortable judging the character, motivation, or intellectual capabilities of Sarah Palin as you so clearly do. |
The first ethics investigation revolved around Palin trying to get her ex-BIL fired. That found she had violated state ethics.
For this investigation, they are making a judgement about her firing of the Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan. I remember reading that Palin appointed the lead counsel/investigator on the Personnel Board. Gee, what a surprise about the "innocent" decision. She's guilty as sin and EVERYBODY in the state of Alaska understands that. |
Oh really, do you have inside info. you'd like to share with us? |
If you and your office are constantly calling the Public Safety Commissioner and all his lieutenants pressuring them to "do something" about your ex-family member, what do you not understand? This information trickles down to the local public much more effectively than can be conveyed in a newspaper article to people living on the other side of the continent. |
What inside information? All you have to do is read the report from the first ethics investigation to see that her behavior was inappropriate. Whether it violated the regulation or not, I have no opinion -- but I can judge for myself how many phone calls from how many people it takes (and there were LOTS of phone calls and contacts from 5 or 6 people) to cross the line into pressure and harassment. Doesn't have to be against the law to be wrong. |
Right. Ethics define something about your values. It may not be illegal for me to take my family on business trips with me and charge the full expenses to my employer, but it is NOT ethical. Planning "business trips" around the world on the company's dime, so you can play at the different golf courses around the world is not illegal, but it is UNETHICAL. I imagine Sarah Palin was a "reformer" intent on solving existing ethical dilemmas in Alaskan politics. Though none of the politicians in the Alaska state government were breaking laws, she felt there needed to be some reform of the ethical practices. I guess she absolves herself of any ethical violations because she did not get money out of her unethical behavior. What a hypocrite. |
This is not inside information. The first investigation covered two charges : (1) That she unduly pressured Monegan to fire her ex-BIL. (2) The actual firing of Monegan. The first investigation found her guilty on (1) and innocent on (2). The second investigation only covered (2). It found her innocent. That still leaves her guilty on (1). |
Don't bother. It's as though you're talking to a rock (and you probably are). Save your energy for the polls - and for watching the returns. There's no sense in arguing with Palin supporters as they should probably be labeled in the DSM Manual. |
You're right. It's like getting an alcoholic to admit they're drunks. |
Exactly. They only investigated the one charge and absolved her of it, but are trying to convey that she is innocent of all. Innocent. Innnocent. I'm innocent. |
