My oldest is 23. He had a horrible , life threatening reaction to the "P" in the old DPT shot. Because of the severity of his reaction, he only received the DT shot for the remaining childhood vaccines. Your unvaccinated child absolutely poses a risk to kids who cannot, for legitimate medical reasons, receive a vaccine. Luckily, when my son was little, most people were smart enough to vaccinate and Pertussis wasn't on the increase. |
If you had medical reasons, and your objections were not religious, why did you use a religious waiver? |
| Because she's a liar |
Ugh. I feel so bad for parents lie you in this situation. Luckily, the vaccine has been modified and most people don't have a reaction anymore. |
*like* not lie |
Please take a science/immunology class! You sound like a backwater hillbilly when you make such statements. |
| I hope the DC in your thread title stands for Dinky County Private Schools. 'Cause we don't want your Typhoid Mary in our classroom. |
This is very mean but it made me laugh (for which I am sorry, universe). |
| Our DC private pre-school requires vaccinations on schedule. They have said it is part of their licensing requirement. |
|
DC privates are held to the same standards as DC publics and parochial schools. There is no religious or philosophical opt out in the District (except for HPV). You will be required to have a physician's statement that the required vaccines are medically contraindicated.
Here's a link to the District's requirements: http://doh.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/doh/publication/attachments/2011-2012_final_school_immunization_requirements_%282%29.pdf |

I hope original poster is aware their child is at risk for getting whatever they are putting off vaccinating. It just takes one other family to do the same thing... AND.... you've potentially got a serious problem.
Unless you have a VERY good reason. I would not play with fire. |
And a moron. |
|
Mine follows the law - and the law requires a vac record or a waiver (religious in MD) on file. We selectively vaccinate, and I talked to them when I got notice of acceptance that mentioned the vaccine form. They were completely nonplussed about it - said we wouldn't be the only ones with a waiver on file.
This is one of the more "hippie" private schools though. |
Not OP, but I really don't consider chicken pox to be fire. |
Right. Because Chicken Pox is the only threat. None of the other life threatening diseases could possibly be a problem.
