But WHAT direction? If he talked about that last night, I missed it. All I saw was platitudes and change change change, which means nothing in the long run without a little more information! And people actually "crying" over the piece? Please. Don't you see when you're being manipulated based on emotion only?
They must have been targeting "women" with this piece. |
As opposed to women? |
I've spoken with several former McCain supporters and few undecideds who felt this gave them confidence not only to vote for Obama but to feel certain it is the right thing to do. I doubt that this or anything will shift hardcore McCain supporters but it does seem to be energizing the democrats and resonating with independents.
IMO it was great to see a positive and hopeful message. McCain has been so ugly and so divisive. McCain so represents the horrible negative infighting in Washington that Americans are sick of getting in the way of any solution. There is a such a contrast between the candidates. It will be nice to return to a time when multiple views are considered rather than vicious partisan attacks and closed doors. |
It was like watching something on state controlled television in a non-democratic nation. All feelings and manipulation. The image of him in an Oval Office like setting preaching to the public his mantra of change was so contrived. I found the whole thing absolutely chilling. Many countries have elected "change” and are paying or have paid the price. I believe in the Constitution and the principles of a free democracy and capitalism. Will all those real Americans who spoke on the commercial be put through all the same public investigation and criticism that Joe the Plumber received? I already know the answer to that one. |
I was impressed. One thing that struck me is how steady Obama has been throughout the campaign. He presented his plans in a very compassionate and practical manner. These plans have been part of his platform the entire campaign. He hasn't had to jump all over the map and spring new desperate surprises.
I was planning to vote for Obama more to vote against McCain. For goodness sake, McCain can't even lead his campaign how could he possibly lead the country? After the infomercial, I am now proud to vote for Obama and look forward to what he will do. Will he meet expectations? Possibly yes and possibly no (there is a huge mess to fix) but our expectations are so low that I think he will quickly reintroduce credibility in the White House. Bush gave us the expectation that leaders will lie to the public, other ideas and opinions are not tolerated, people do not matter, and politics is always ugly. Obama stands on entirely different principals. |
You must have missed the Reagan era. Talk about production values! |
No. |
PP again. Actually this morning Kathleen Parker called Obama "Reaganesque." Guess I am not the only one who recognizes that both Obama and Reagan were good at producing "All feelings and manipulation." How was "Morning in America" any different from what the first PP is complaining about now? |
