I had $52k. Had just been laid off. Those were some dark days.
Three years later, I have $102k. |
Oh, and income at time of layoff at age 30 was 40k. Current income 55k. |
|
DH and I are both 30. I started working in 2005, he started in 2007 (he went to grad school).
My retirement savings (401k + Roth IRA): 142k DH (401k + Roth IRA): 77k I started maxing out my Roth when I first started working, DH didn't start contributing to his until 2 years ago. With our income, we only have a couple years left before we make too much. We contribute about 5-10% to our 401ks. |
| I'm almost 30 and have 50k. I messed up with my retirement. I've been making 80k for several years and feel I should have more. |
| at 30 i had $50k and my husband had $80k |
| At age 30 I had about $80-$90K in retirement funds. |
| 140k but i then spent half of it |
| None. Life is too short to save. Spend, spend, spend, and spend some more with credit cards. |
|
DH had about $125k, but soon after we had the down turn it went down to about $80k. This was exactly the same time we started maxing his TSP out so now at 35 he has $275k.
I have not idea what I had at 30. I worked a few years and then was off a few years, so maybe $20k. |
| Can't remember, but I am 32 now and have $120K. Husband is 36 and has 86K plus a vested pension. |
You have way more than most almost 30 yr olds. Just keep contributing the max and maybe look for other ways to invest/save. That being said, there will probably be a lot of people who will jump in and say no that is wrong! I have xxx and I am xxx! But you are almost 30, not almost 60. Just go to one of the sites that calculates your retirement income and you will see that you didn't mess up on your retirement and you have time to get on track. |
| $5,000. |
| About 900k? Something like that. |
|
Ir I had maxed out my 401k withholdings in the 5 years I worked before turning 30, I'd have almost a million in retirement savings by now, rather than the just over $700,000 I have now at 41.
|
| Nothing. Now in mid 40s and have ~700k saved. |
