red kitchen cabinets?

I like those a lot, but yes, you will limit resale because red can be a pain to paint over, and some people will not want to have to do that right off the bat.

I love it in this kitchen:

That is great. And I think that kitchen looks nicer than the original photo posted in the thread. I don't really like red - but in this photo it works really well and I would consider buying a house with that look.

Too much crap/clutter with too many broken lines.

We are talking about color - not clutter....

^^ that's just silly. many people incorporate red into their homes. and I've never thought about McDonalds.

Also, yes it is a bit cluttered, but come on people have things! The spartan space lab look in a kitchen is not sustainable if you actually cook in it.

OP here. Thanks for all the opinions. I don't expect to be moving any time soon, so I am not TOO concerned with the re-sale factor. Our house is also not worth a lot compared to the DCUM standard ($325k -- we are not in DC), so the resale market and expectations for kitchens may be a slightly lower. (Which is not to say that people who dislike red cabinets will be forgiving, just that they are unlikely to be expecting the high-end kitchens that may be the norm for $million+ houses.)

OP, I don't know if you're considering any other colors for your cabinets but just as an FYI, here are a few pics with more of a grey/green color. I think both of these look fairly nice. We were looking at doing the same thing a few years ago, so I spent lots of time collecting pictures of various options for painted cabinets:

I LOVE red cabinets. There are some on display at Fergusons in Salsa (Bercht of whatever the line is). I wish my DH would go along with them. I want red cabinets with soapstone countertops.

You can also paint the insides of the cabinets red if they are wood and do a more neutral tone on the outside.

I just did a google search on red kitchen cabinets (image search) and you should totally go for it.
