Agree that $100 is likely too much, unless it is your old biglaw firm paying you -- smaller firms that need part time help probably can't afford to pay $100 an hour, and neither do they need to as there are plenty of attorneys out there who will do it for less. Job posting rates for law clerks on CL range from free (ie, internship) to maybe $15 -$20 an hour, tops. I am a SAHM who does freelance legal work when I can get it. My prior biglaw firm pays me pro rata of my prior salary (ie, over $100 an hour) for small projects every now and then. When I picked up a freelance job on CL with a small firm that needed help in my biglaw specialty, it was about $60 an hour. Every now and then part-time research positions come up for a non-profit type place, but hourly rate is on the low side -- maybe $20 an hour. Networking is probably your best bet! |
