I am one of the PPs and forgot abt my feet swelling!!! I was lucky in that the shoes I wore to the hospital were roomy enough to accommodate my chunky feet.

Drinking plain hospital water gets boring. As soon as I got to my room I pulled out the packs and started drinking. The nurses just laughed because they knew I had been through this before and said they would make sure dinner was ordered for me

You need all of the normal things everyone else packs as well. A key item for me was a charge for my smart phone with a really long cord. You can get one with a 5 foot cord. This made it possible for me to email friends and make phone calls easier.

Find out if your hospital has restaurants that will deliver to it. If so print out the menus and take those. On day 2 I had a few friends come visit me and we ordered from the Cheesecake factory. It was absolutely wonderful and boosted my spirits.

Trail mix- nuts for protien, dried fruit to help the bowls move and some sort of chocolate to make me happy at 2am.

The baby book- I filled out as much as I could while in the hospital

PP do you mind sharing who your Dr was who you had 4 c-sections with? From your post it sounds like you were doing pretty well in the hospital. I had one c-section with a complication and now want to change Drs. Would love to hear who yours was. Thanks!

+1 I know I disliked those gauzy faux underwear that is given out. It really irritated my skin. I was thrilled to be able to put on my own underwear the day after the surgery.

SAME HERE. How can they hand that shit out?!!

Make sure you have granny panties and a wide variety of maxi pads at home for when you get back. Dont want to be forced to hit the store or send your dh on this task.

Lip balm.

Agree with pp, its not really any different from anyone else except maybe its more helpful to have soft waisted yoga pants to be gentle on the incision.

Just got home from a planned c section at fair oaks inova. Here's what I used.

Chargers for Phone, camera, iPad. I charged then at night so didn't need the extra long cable but that's a good suggestion.
Eye mask
Ear plugs
Slippers ( I wore their provided non slip socks for walks as well)
Sleep nursing bra (put it on day 2 once my porn star boobs arrived and wore it the rest of the time)
Nursing pads (though I didn't leak this time)
Shower shoes
Toiletries (toothbrush, face wash, Face and body lotion, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, blowdryer and razor (for armpits)
Chapstick
Glasses and contact case
Boppy
One outfit and blanket for baby to wear home
Yoga pants and maternity tshirt for me to wear home

I brought my own pjs and nursing top but the pants didn't fit well around the incision and the nursing top was a failure. The gown really was the best thing to be in for all four days. I got a clean one everyday. Plus my back was super sweaty from lying down and my own pjs just would've gotten soaked and smelly quickly.

I wore the hospital undies and found they were vastly improved from my first c in Atlanta.

I showered on day 2. Hubby helped me dry off and wash cloth my back and legs.

I didn't bring any food or drinks. They had a pantry stocked with juice, crackers, peanut butter, jello and pudding.

My nurse let me have apple juice immediately and switched me to liquid / mushy foods (soup, purees) after 6 hours once she was certain I didn't have nausea. They also moved me to a unrestricted diet before I had a bowel movement (I did pass gas though).

I wore my contacts during surgery so I could see the baby (I'm fairly nearsighted) but took them out immediately once I was in my room. The itchiness side effect from the spinal made them very uncomfortable. I wore glasses the rest of the time.

+1 on having big soft undies and maxi pads at home. The ones in the hospital were mega flow with no wings and just bunched up like crazy. Way more protection than I needed by the time I got home.

And if you have any other kids, have some entertainment for them when they visit. My dd watched cartoons on my iPad with me in the bed. She also loved all the free food (especially the pudding). I made sure to get a few extra things from the menu for her visits.

Thanks, 15:15, that is a great list! This sounds shallow, but can I just say that as someone who has to have a medically necessary C in about 10 weeks, I am glad I can disregard all those lists in the books and the ones my friends who delivered "naturally" keep sending me. I don't need your Sitz baths, Tucks, wet wipes, soft music, balance balls, etc. I am getting my blowout the day before and my nails done.
