Just got home from a planned c section at fair oaks inova. Here's what I used. Chargers for Phone, camera, iPad. I charged then at night so didn't need the extra long cable but that's a good suggestion. Eye mask Ear plugs Slippers ( I wore their provided non slip socks for walks as well) Sleep nursing bra (put it on day 2 once my porn star boobs arrived and wore it the rest of the time) Nursing pads (though I didn't leak this time) Shower shoes Toiletries (toothbrush, face wash, Face and body lotion, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, blowdryer and razor (for armpits) Chapstick Glasses and contact case Boppy One outfit and blanket for baby to wear home Yoga pants and maternity tshirt for me to wear home I brought my own pjs and nursing top but the pants didn't fit well around the incision and the nursing top was a failure. The gown really was the best thing to be in for all four days. I got a clean one everyday. Plus my back was super sweaty from lying down and my own pjs just would've gotten soaked and smelly quickly. I wore the hospital undies and found they were vastly improved from my first c in Atlanta. I showered on day 2. Hubby helped me dry off and wash cloth my back and legs. I didn't bring any food or drinks. They had a pantry stocked with juice, crackers, peanut butter, jello and pudding. My nurse let me have apple juice immediately and switched me to liquid / mushy foods (soup, purees) after 6 hours once she was certain I didn't have nausea. They also moved me to a unrestricted diet before I had a bowel movement (I did pass gas though). I wore my contacts during surgery so I could see the baby (I'm fairly nearsighted) but took them out immediately once I was in my room. The itchiness side effect from the spinal made them very uncomfortable. I wore glasses the rest of the time. +1 on having big soft undies and maxi pads at home. The ones in the hospital were mega flow with no wings and just bunched up like crazy. Way more protection than I needed by the time I got home. And if you have any other kids, have some entertainment for them when they visit. My dd watched cartoons on my iPad with me in the bed. She also loved all the free food (especially the pudding). I made sure to get a few extra things from the menu for her visits.
