| Awesome, thanks! off to eat some cheese before I try this! |
I'm totally intrigued... I have always had very bloodshot eyes. So unattractive... I don't eat much yogurt, though. I have skim milk every morning in my mocha - man it would suck to give that up. I definitely eat my fair share of cheese. Ugh. Would SUCK to give up cheese too. (don't really have problems with my skin, though. what were your skin issues?) |
I was the person who suggested alcohol as being dehydrating thus resulting in red eyes. And the reason overnight flights are called red-eyes aren't so much do to exhaustion but due to the fact that flying itself is dehydrating. I often have red eyes after a long flight. But I wanted to tell this poster above that Chronic Dry Eye Syndrome is a very serious condition. Google it or wikipedia it and you will see. I had red eyes after having my second child (early forties) and first eye doctor tossed it off as hormonal. Fortunately I fired him. Second doctor said I have chronic dry eye syndrome and inserted punctal plugs in the inner corner of the eyes (they keep tear solution from draining out fast). That doctor also suggested Restasis but, like you, it didn't work. Problem was - I didn't keep up with the Restasis - look it up and you will see that you have to use Restasis for a long, long time to get results. That eye doctor retired and next eye doctor did a test (places a tiny piece of paper on the surface of the eye) to determine "how" dry my eyes were. Well, I was the worst she had ever seen. So she removed the old punctal plugs and inserted new, larger ones. We're back on Restasis morning and night. Also she prescribed "Tears Again" (or something like that) prescription pill that provides flaxseed oil and other nutrients to help the eyes produce tears. And she said she wanted me back in 3 mos. to test the eyes again using the paper test. I told her that Restasis didn't help. She said that I wouldn't be able to tell if my condition was better, but that she could tell if my eyes were better via the paper test. So I followed all her instructions, went back and, indeed, they were better. Next step is punctal plugs in the outer ducts of the eyes. After that, it is surgery-land and this very well-known Opthal. surgeon says "It is not a surgery you want to have". So take care of that dry eye problem pronto! If you read up on it you will see how it can destroy your eyesight over time. And, if you happen to be a lawyer, you will be glad that if you have chronic dry eye, you should not a) stare at computer screens for long periods of time because computer users blink less frequently while using a screen; b) get up and walk around and do something else at least every hour; c) use a fan (fans dry out the tear production) . . .all the things that a lawyers do or do not do. Also, you should position your computer screen low, so that your eye is not opened as far as it would be if your screen was positioned eye level or higher. You need to blink frequently to distribute what tear solution your eye provides over the surface of the whole eye. If you wear a night mask to keep light out in order to sleep, be sure to get one with large "bubbles" in them - one for each eye - to allow for your eye to move about while you are sleeping. If you wear a flat version, your dry eye will be even worse in the morning. By the way, Chronic Dry Eye is considered a serious disease/condition so all your bills should be covered by your health plan if you have one. Good luck! |
Thanks so much for the info. The doc I saw is just an optometrist, so I will look into seeing an MD for this. I also had the paper test years ago, and I was extremely dry then. |

For now, a good tip to look better is to get a flesh colored pencil and line your lower lashes by your waterline.
Dot your inner corners with illuminator too. Chanel makes a beautiful eye pencil in beryl which looks amazing. Just line your bottom lashes by the waterline and dot the inner corners of your eyes. Lisa Eldrige Has great tutorials on this subject. |
| Fabulous tips - I am going to ask about this at my next eye appointment! Love the eye makeup tips |
