Teacher recommended WISC

WISC is natioanlly recognized and used for indentifying gifted to profoundly gifted kids.
For example, http://www.davidsongifted.org/youngscholars/Article/Davidson_Young_Scholars___Qualification_Criteria_384.aspx

They don't care about GBRS at all, pretty subjective opinion from a regular teacher.

Who doesn't care about GBRS? The AAP selection committee? Also, what's wrong with the opinion of a "regular teacher"? There are a lot of great "regular teachers" whose opinions after spending time with a child daily would be valuable. You really do have an agenda to push the WISC. Funny how OP's question just happened to coincide with when AAP letters are coming out and people might be considering appealing because their DCs weren't accepted. No need to slam "regular teachers" in the process of pursuing your agenda.

Thank-you very much for this courageous post.
If OP says the teacher recommended it I have to believe the OP. But I have to wonder about the teacher.
And then of course the for-profit WISC testers start coming out of the woodwork extolling the virtues of this costly test.

BS. A 1st grade teacher is not recommending your kid get an IQ test. YOU may have asked if you could do another test but that's about it. Tell s precisely how this conversation went.

probably something along these lines: I'nmnot satisfied with those scores for AAP purposes and don't want to take NO for an answer so how can I get a different test score that might be more favorable?
