WISC is natioanlly recognized and used for indentifying gifted to profoundly gifted kids.

Who doesn't care about GBRS?  The AAP selection committee?  Also, what's wrong with the opinion of a "regular teacher"?  There are a lot of great "regular teachers" whose opinions after spending time with a child daily would be valuable.  You really do have an agenda to push the WISC.  [b]Funny how OP's question just happened to coincide with when AAP letters are coming out and people might be considering appealing because their DCs weren't accepted. If OP says the teacher recommended it I have to believe the OP.  But I  have to wonder about the teacher.
And then of course the for-profit WISC testers start coming out of the woodwork extolling the virtues of this costly test.[/quote]
