If you were an overweight child/teen, what was helpful?

I was always overweight, too, and the only thing that keeps it off is exercise. Portion control, too. Allow sweets, but keep them a tiny part of a diet. My parents didn't and also harped on me for my weight. Neither of which helped.

Making treat from scratch is also better than Pre packaged anything. Too easy to buy and dig in prepackaged stuff. Make it an effort to make sweets. They will reach for apples, carrots, cheese, etc. instead.

No diet soda. I swear that makes me crave sugar.
