FYI - To those whose names moved off the list. Just got an email regarding acceptance. Good luck to everyone.
For those who did not get an acceptance today, key dates are to notify of intent to enroll within 2 days, then have until April 23 at noon to complete enrollment paperwork. Would guess that shortly after April 23 will be the next update to list movement.
I've been monitoring the YY Waitlist like a hawk but was so busy at work today, didn't look at it once. Meanwhile my DH who has left the monitoring to me looked for the 1st time and texted me "check your email", and there it was! So no calls, just emails so far.
Quick look at movement on the list was that the first 8 people came off the waitlist. After that looks like two siblings came off at 70 and 71, so either accepted as siblings, or accepted somewhere else. Not sure if there is any point in looking beyond there as very little chance of going that far into the list, but there is a new person at 89, in between previous 98 and 99. Finally former #157 is no longer listed, so 158 moved up to 148, rather than 149.
Sigh. No movement for K.
Wow, does that mean there will be FOUR sets of twins in the Pre-K this coming year? Is that fairly common in DC? Seems like a lot of twins! |
We were in the top 8 for prek and received an email this afternoon.
My guess is the higher numbers were accepted elsewhere and withdrew their names from consideration. There is so little space for movement at the other grades that it is unlikely a sibling was accepted to draw them in off the waitlist.
For whatever reason, YY decided to post all incoming new students whereas previously they did not list siblings of existing students. Last yr, they only took sibs for K. I am curious how many of the 11 new students accepted into grades K-2 are siblings b/c that will give an indication if there will be any movement in those waitlists.
You can email the school and ask. I inquired as to how many sibs were in the PreK class, 40, which meant there were 32 open slots for new students.
I truly don't understand why you think your child only moved up 4. I printed the PreK list as of 3/28/13, and comparing it to the list now, every single child has moved up at least 8 spots, and as a PP pointed out, twins lower on the list came off so everyone who was below 70/71 has now moved up 10. Where are you seeing a student only moved 4 on this list? |
As of 3/28 it looks like 6 sets of twins were accepted. The accepted list is no longer up, but if 70/71 got in on sib preference, that would be 7 sets of twins! |
Just checked again. DC moved up 9 slots. Still won't get us anything. So much for my trip to China!
No movement for K.
K will be hard, since there were no lottery K slots. Then again, there were no Stokes PreK lottery slots last year or this year, and last year they still went some ways down the Waitlist, so you never know.
