Left side of body went numb

OP, I am also surprised you didn't immediately run to the nearest Emergency Room + get this matter checked out.

Sure, you are young, but you could have been having a stroke.

Make an appt. ASAP and see someone.

It could be life or death.
Sorry to scare you, but it really can be.

Hope you are okay.

OP Here: I have been house sitting for my parents all weekend so I was by myself when this happened. I honestly did not think it was anything big. It freaked me out but I honestly didn't think it could be THAT serious as I've never had anything like this happen before and I didn't know the signs of any of the things PP's are posting.

I plan on calling a couple of doctors tomorrow to see who is taking new patients and who is willing to get me in ASAP.

I'm in the medical field and sure I could tell you its normal and the way you were sitting just caused temporary muscle paralysis and once the blood flow returned to the area, everything returned to normal. And 6 months from now you could be diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer, because that is really what the weird feeling in your stomach was, not what I said. I get that you are 24, but please, smarten up. Call your doctor and just get checked out.

For the same reason that there was a thread a few days ago called "Diagnose me please." People just think that an anonymous source on the Internet will give sound medical advice for free!

OP Here: There is really no need to be snarky. I was just seeing if anyone else has had this happen before and/or if anyone had any input. I was not asking someone on here to diagnose me and assume they had it correct. Just asking for some advice.

I was not being snarky towards you. I was being honest to the poster who said "WHY?"

My initial thought was you were having a TIA (aka "mini stroke"), by the way. I've never heard it in the stomach, but left side and numbness are what my boss had when he had a TIA.

why not just go to an urgent care/ER right now, OP? if it's a stroke they only have a small window when it can be possibly reversed.

OP Here: I just had my friend bring me in. Happened again but has lasted an hour now. Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Hopefully this is nothing serious.

Hope you are ok, OP!

First symptom I experienced was a tingling sensation on my left side, which I noticed in the am, while showering. By the next day, I had suffered a stroke while driving on 395. My sincere, honest advice is check it out, don't delay. Even a so-called mini-stroke could be a problem. I still have limited feeling on my entire left side. My life has not been fun for the past year or so.

Hope it's benign, good luck!

OP Here:
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. After being in the ER from 11pm-4am, I really didn't get that much of an answer for the numbness. When I finally got to the ER, I was shaking uncontrollably and very, very dizzy and light headed. When they took my blood pressure, it was EXTREMELY high (around 158/90) which is obviously very worrisome. I didn't end up seeing a doctor until around 2am and by then, the numbness had gone away but I was still feeling very "off". He felt around my stomach and took my vitals, etc. They asked me if I've ever had an ovarian cyst, etc. (which I never have). He didn't seem to be concerned about it being a stroke but he recommended a new doctor for me to go to and get some tests down (look further into why my blood pressure is so high, etc.) so I will be going on Wednesday afternoon to get checked out some more. I'm hoping that I will get an answer as I was very worried last night when this all happened as it came on very sudden and was much worse then the night before.

OP, are they going to schedule you for an MRI?

Hope you get some answers and it's nothing serious.

Was the numbness in the same location as the first time?
