they're almost certainly carpenter bees if they're dive bombing you. the males can't sting but are very aggressive. you'll want to get rid of htem -- they do a lot of damage.

I was going to say the same things. Carpenter bees will not sting but they are huge and fly all around you. We found that they were living in our fence. We sprayed and then filled the holes with wood filler and that totally solved our problem.

Us, too.
It's bee central, and I am quasi-phobic. I'm hoping they'll settle down after this initial heat wave.

They're not aggressive, they're just busy (busy bees?) doing their pollen thing. Leave them alone and they'll leave you alone.

People, we are talking about bees outside, not in, right?? Leave the bees alone and let them do their thing - they are necessary to the ecosystem.

+1. If you fu$# with nature, you will fu$# up nature. Everyone is freaking out over global warming and what man is doing to the planet, but the minute you personally feel a little inconvenienced over a necessary part of our natural ecosystem, you freak out and want to destroy the offender. Things are flowering folks, bees are going to be active and we need them to be. My holly trees in front of my house are literally buzzing with bees. In a few weeks they will calm down. Calm down, people. We are talking about bees.
