where to meet cool moms?

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. New Year's Eve. 10pm. Bring your kid.

Good one, OP.

I was joking. I had my first when I was in my late 20s (and I'm a lawyer).

Ruth's Chris never gets old. Love it!

I'm not going to touch the whole "cool mom" thing... but I will say you will probably have an easier time meeting a bigger crop of moms if/when you put your little ones in a preschool program - try to choose one with a 'walk-in' drop off rather than a curbside/teacher pickup style drop off - the walking in and waiting for the few minutes for pick-up outside class is a nice opportunity to socialize. You'll meet more parents so you're bound to meet some that you click with. Also with the weather improving soon and your babies getting bigger, just try to be a regular at your local or favorite playground. You'll start to see the same faces and observe the parenting styles. I did find it a challenge before preschool, though. I think the main thing is to stay out and about.

My favorite part is the part about loving frozen yogurt.

look at pp giving good advice.

I actually read the first post and I was going to respond that I just met a cool mom at a birthday party populated by parents from my child's preschool class. But then there was themed play dates mentioned and I got all distracted.

STOP responding as if this is a serious post! Watch and learn:

OP, although it's in DC, you may consider checking out the Politics & Prose Bookstore cafe. They have free wi-fi. But watch our for sneering servers behind the counter.

OP, I get it. I have a great group of mom friends that I actually would have liked prekids, too. We met at a new mom support group when we all had newborns. They are all turning 5 now!!

We were part of a much larger group, and when our babies aged out of the official "support group" a smaller group of us (10) formed our own group. We have weekly play dates, monthly moms night outs and girls weekends 2x year.

I totally lucked out though and have no idea where you find this otherwise. I will say that I've also met some great, fun ladies at DD's preschool - actually a great argument for a school with no carline. You meet many more people if everyone has to go inside!

I throw themed playdates for our moms group. i don't think its that strange or unusual. For St. Patricks day the kids all wore green and I served Irish themed appitizers for the Moms. It was a lot of fun for the Moms and the kids looked so cute.

Ha! So true.

NOT the walk in preschools. The cattiest, least secure moms are there.

Definitely "like-minded" (read: $$$) moms at like-minded preschools. You will know it when you see it!
