At Chevy Chase, I believe we are expected to bring our child. Is this right? I don't have the paper in front of me, but I thought it said there was a program for the kids and a meeting for the adults.

Liked the program but wasn't impressed by the principal at ours. How important do you think a principal is?

IMO, the principal is very important. It makes a huge difference when the principal is supportive of the program.

Did they go into what is going to be offered in terms of math? Did they give examples of the kinds of projects they'd be working on?

I liked the principal at the open house I went to. Curious if it is the same one.

Liked the program and the principal at our open house. Will say that other child got into different HGC school two years ago and entire family disliked the principal.

Didn't go for various reasons, but that definitely factored into my child's thought process. Have friends who did go and have said that principal doesn't matter. They have had a good experience.

20:43 Yes on projects, not lots of details on math other than to talk about the compacted curriculum and how the school logistically handles the math instruction. Math is technically not a part of the HGC curriculum.

I've heard negative things about the Pine Crest principal but have also heard that it doesn't matter much.

We didn't like her, but she had zero impact on our experience (ours or our child's).

I'm just curious as to why the principal doesn't matter much? Is it because the center is so separate from the rest of the school?
