Not the OP, but I would say it's because I'm not as perfect a parent as you.

Not sure where anything about being a perfect parent was mentioned. I do recall as a child and when we dined out my parents did not base where we would dine on whether or not we would be entertained. I think it's sad that this now needs to be a requirement to dine somewhere. Why not just find a McDonalds with a play room.

Things have changed since you were growing up in 1954, sweetie.

Honey, it wasn't the 50's but the 70's and 80's. Enjoy your kids when they are teenagers and they still don't know how to order or behave in restaurant. I guess by then you will have graduated to Hooters for your entertainment while dining. So at least you have that to look forward to - enjoy.

No kidding PP! What is it with all these crazy posters who think it's reasonable to try to plan a family outing where their children will have fun! Nonsense!

Your idea of fun for your children probably involves ruining the meals of many others as your kids run wild but that is the "me" society in which we now live. Screw everyone else, my child MUST be entertained while he eats.

Any suggestions for me? Thanks!

Chucky Cheese
Uncle Julios
Hooters
Cheesecake Factory
Benihana
Melting Pot
Chima

PP, I think YOU are actually the selfish narcissist in this scenario. Sometimes, some people do things that OTHERS enjoy out of the kindness of their heart, and because they get joy from seeing others having fun. Have you ever done this?

Wow - that seems a bit harsh. We have fun every time we dine out with our children. We talk about school, sports, and what goes on in their everyday lives. I find this more fun and I get great joy from it. More so then taking my kids to a restaurant just to watch them watch tv and nod every once in awhile when I talk to them.
Enjoy your day.

This is OP. Thanks again for the suggestions. To poster 8:46, why did you even open this thread if you had nothing helpful to add. Before you judge how my children are behaved and can converse, hold up a mirror.

All you need OP, is a place that serves drinks - so you and spouse can have a diversion....

have you gone to medieval times? it's expensive but includes a whole show and is quite fun, especially for kids who love horses or knights or princesses or live action sword fights.

I think the post was helpful, you apparently disagree. Never judged you children.
Maybe you need to hold up a mirror.

Cactus Catina also has a tortilla maker
I like to get seats by the window so there's entertainment just outside.
Lebanese Taverna in Pentagon City in the winter: can watch ice skaters and the zamboni.
Don't like the idea of playing in the splash park before food comes...sounds like a big pain to dry kids off to eat.

Pizza CS in Rockville has some game tables and the staff are very welcoming to kids.

Not the op, but I tend to lean toward did friendly places for ME. So I can relax more, actually have fun. But that is me. My husband finds these types of places irritatIng. I am guessing you are like him. But I am not. Do when it is just new and my son we tend to go to the more fun places.
