Not sure where anything about being a perfect parent was mentioned. I do recall as a child and when we dined out my parents did not base where we would dine on whether or not we would be entertained. I think it's sad that this now needs to be a requirement to dine somewhere. Why not just find a McDonalds with a play room. [/quote]

PP, I think YOU are actually the selfish narcissist in this scenario.  Sometimes, some people do things that OTHERS enjoy out of the kindness of their heart, and because they get joy from seeing others having fun.  Have you ever done this?

Wow - that seems a bit harsh.  We have fun every time we dine out with our children.  We talk about school, sports, and what goes on in their everyday lives.  I find this more fun and I get great joy from it.  More so then taking my kids to a restaurant just to watch them watch tv and nod every once in awhile when I talk to them.
