Out of curiousity, is it possible to merge threads. I've often thought that when I've seen one thread locked or removed because its a duplicate of another. This would be handy when both threads already have multiple replies.

To avoid confusion you could always add a reply in between replies are merged.

This is how its worked on other sites I've used.

Unfortunately, our forum software does not have a thread merging feature. I could probably do it manually by accessing the backend database, but that's a lot of trouble and a bit error-prone (the experience on Sunday shows that you don't want me too close to databases on a regular basis).

I'm glad you removed it. Multiple threads are irritating, especially when all the responses are basically the same.

It's also irritating when people cross post.

It's pretty clear that OP is welcome to share his or her views on the existing thread, so no harm done in removing it.
