Me again, choose to keep DC in local school. Currently in 8th grade doing extremely well academically. Do not regret not sending to Center.

nnat 154
cogat 126 (not fat)
wisc 148

my opinion was always thaa the nnat is closer to the wisc than cogat. cogat is a very different test than the other 2. each question is read to the kids and they can't continue on their own until the teacher tells them to turn the page. nnat and wisc the children move at their own rate which in our case made all the difference becuase of DC processing speed.

Wisc 124 -- straight As in AAP. Not that hard. Don't be afraid to challenge your student.

OP, did you get the WISC results? Were you satisfied or do you still wonder if you should have prepped?

"Straight A's"? You're about three grading systems behind.

Really, they don't do As anymore? Funny, I am looking at the transcripts. Now into the weighted grades. And the numbers.

I think they do As in middle school. Not in elementary -- just 1s through 4s.

OP here... The results were very good, composite 140 (99.6%). I am very happy but I still think that if I knew that some sections were timed I would have told DC to do faster. Apparently, kids are not told that some parts are timed and this can affect their results regarding speed etc.

So to answer your question, yes, now that we have the results, I am satisfied that we did the right thing not prepping at all (I wouldn't know where to begin anyway). But, until we got the results, I was really nervous - especially after reading all those posts about "parents having the obligation to do everything in their power to help their kids realize their potential" etc. etc.

Now, we are just waiting for the eligibility letter, hoping that we don't need to go to an appeal and that DC gets in without the WISC results. I am not sure how to handle an appeal, if needed...

Strange how you forget. I had 2 in AAP. It was great for them academically. I did not love the mix-it-up at the center school. (School friends going off to different schools)

If you need to appeal, the letter from the AAP office will include instructions on how to submit it.
