African-American pediatrician in Dupont Circle?

I totally agree. Dr. Wirt has been my children's pediatrician all their lives. DC1 is in college now and DC2 is in high school. He's very knowledgeable, calm, reassuring and I trust him. I can call him in a panic and he calmly brings me back to sanity. Ms. Banks, one of the ladies who works behind the desk, has managed his offices for over 20 years, she's wonderful. I'm always happy to see her.

Used to also go to Dr. Barnes until I moved to Upper Marlboro. Great doc.

We really like Dr. Marjorie McKnight and Dr. Necole Washington at the Physicians Office Building at Washington Hospital Center. Although they aren't close to Dupont Circle, they are worth the drive. They're office is adjacent to Children's Hospital and they use electronic records. They have computers in each of the four exam rooms so that you can view lab reports, immunization fact sheets, growth charts, and patient notes during the exam.

Another parent who loves Dr. Barnes-Marshall. (And, yes, she is Jamaican.) She has wonderful bedside manners -- listens well to the parents, explains things, and is wonderful with the children. I also like that she tends to be more relaxed and not eager to medicate at first jump. She is a solo practitioner, so there is that, but I will also add that any time my child has been sick I have been able to get an appointment that same day. We've been very pleased. Maybe you can make an appointment with a couple practices to meet a few doctors and see what practice fits you best, OP.
