Overly Analytical Preschool?

On the flip side, my best friend's son was diagnosed with autism only after he started preschool and the teachers approached his mom about what they thought were problems. I remember she was very insulted at first, but because of their prompting she saw his ped and he confirmed their hunch. He was able to get early intervention because of it. So I think that's why they tend to over flag these days. My guess is the thinking is it's better to be safe than sorry. Sounds like they really overreacted in your case.

That place would be WAY too intense for our family's style. Why in the heck should an 18mos old be required to sit for a period of time anyways?
because their not babysitters. It's school, so the teachers start teaching things like learning to listen to their direction. That's what they do. It's not all free play.

You clearly have no concept for childhood development if you think an 18 month old should have the attention span and ability to focus the way this preschool is suggesting. It is completely acceptable to learn how to follow directions at this age but there should be time to allow the child to adjust before jumping to the need for an evaluation.
