I look and feel 10 yrs older since having DS... does it get better?

However, all that didn't even start becoming realistic until my daughter was at least a year (partially because I was also in grad school at the time). I think that getting help with the kids (preschool, babysitting) is also a lifesaver. You can look good again, but it takes some time. Focus on resting and don't be so hard on yourself. 5 months is such a short period of time in the big scheme of things...

Oh, and I do need to agree that breast feeding drains you so much.

I am so glad you posted this. I feel the same way and my DS is almost 13 months old. I think I have been mourning the fact that my body will never look the same. I have a bag of old bikinis that I just cannot throw away yet even though I will never wear them again w/o a tummy tuck b/c of my loose skin. I am only 5 lbs away from pre-preg weight but have all this extra meat around my middle. I used to have the flatest most beautiful stomach. I used to be accessorized and wear lots of heels and cute outfits. Now, I am doing better and trying to get back to that. However, I have to wear sneaks to chase my little guy and pants to climb on things with him. All my close friends don't have kids yet and I see them wearing trendy cute tight things and going out for drinks when I am in bed at 9pm exhausted. However, I love my son and I would chose this over not having him so I try to remember that. I do exercise and am trying to get more time for myself. I think it is a really hard balance and one that only other moms can understand.

PP, i miss dressing to go out in cute clothes, too! but i, like you, CHOOSE to stay home with my baby son. i figure i had a good run (went out for years!) so it's nice also to stay home and look like an old bag!

i got my figure back, but who even cares? i'm a mom.
