Assessments and what you list/sell your house far are never related.
It's the bank's appraisers who determine what your house is worth. They look at sales in the last 3 months, usually within a one mile radius. Be happy when you assessment goes down as it = a decrease in your property tax. |
+1 A buyer may try to use it in negotiation, but ultimately the market will decide what the house is worth and not the green eye shade guy from the county. |

I've had friends succeed and other fail at their appeals. I'm in Bethesda, too, and shocked at how much higher our assessment is this time. I'm definitely appealing. |
