You should build a new house in N Arlington, check mate.

You're both wrong. Where I live is way better than where you live.

PP No, you are wrong. Where I live is better than where you live because all, and I mean all, of the children are gifted and talented.

Ashburn is not a new development. I know that the various housing developments in that area are at least 20+ years old. 300 k for a home is also a real lowball estimate. That being said, the really wealthy people do not live in Ashburn but in those several acre estates in Leesburg.

I can't help to wonder from such threads if the OP worries that the person s/he is writing about may read this thread. Maybe it doesn't matter.

You both still live in Virginia, so who cares!

OP, by any chance, were you one of those kids who got in to the playground tit for tat, "My dad could beat up your dad?"

When we got into an argument about our houses, she was saying how great Ashburn is - and by default her house is because "Louden County is the richest county in the country!" I countered (since I read the same damn article) that while Louden may be the richest county, that just means that residents are the highest paid. But Arlington has the most expensive houses. She didn't understand that it matters. I KNOW, I KNOW. This is completely shallow and I hate myself for even getting into the pissing match with her, but it got me thinking. Does anyone know why Louden is the richest county in the country? I mean, with all the riches in DC, close-in MD and VA, you'd think they would rank higher than some area that includes Ashburn - new houses all built looking exactly the same, no older trees, greenery or anything.

Does anyone know what made Louden county rank the way it did? Is there some secret nook tucked away somewhere in Louden with million dollar homes?

You are trying to compare Arlington to Ashburn as if Ashburn was a county. Loudoun is the county and includes areas like Middleburg with land and the homes selling for over 10M.

Haha. Thank you for posting op! This made my day. It has also been very informative too. I didnt realize that loudooon was ranked so high.

Um, you don't have a maid? I do, so I think I'm the one who wins here.

Hahaha you all are silly

OP, Middleburg, Upperville, leesburg, and other OLD MONEY, eg, Mellonsof Rokeby Farm with horses that have run in Triple Crown. and in England. Loudon County wins. However, you and your friend are idiots.

This.

Yep, hate to contribute to such a catty conversation but the poor in places like DC (especially), Arlington and more urban/closer-in areas pull down the averages.

Please tell me where to find these in Ashburn. I've been working with a realtor for 6 months and my upper upper limit is 550k and there is nothing. Decent Homes that are right around 500K are snatched up in days, or they have a critical flaw. If I'm going to live in Ashburn, the house better be a nice 2 car garage, not something someone's cat has pissed all over.

I see a good selection of homes over 600K.
