Good walking trail in the area for young kids?

We like the Maryland side of Great Falls. Big parking lot, snack stand, and the fenced in path/bridges that take you to the waterfalls (so no losing little ones if they run ahead, they can't really get off the path).

Is there a lot of horse poop on the trails?

Not really. There are hardly any horses in the park. Just the police, and there aren't that many of them.

Plus, horse poop degrades pretty quickly. Not an issue.
