| Ireland sort of tried it, didn't they? |
You are totally wrong. Nordic countries have some seriously high tax rates (hello, Denmark?), a very low degree of income inequality, robust social programs including retirement and healthcare, and are extremely, extremely socially liberal. Completely the OPPOSITE of the US Republican Party. |
| She meant Norway and Germany are European countries that have social programs and are doing WELL, pp. |
If you say so. But that didn't really turn out so well, did it, so either way it doesn't fit OP's criteria of a country that has SUCCESSFULLY implemented these policies. |
Well, that's not really an answer to OP's question then, is it? To review, here is what was asked:
Reading comprehension people. Or, you know, clarity in your response. |
No, you didn't answer the question. You created a second question and then answered your own question, with the worst case you could think of. |
Yes - it was a deflection, in order to avoid giving a genuine answer. The "Greece" pp is not a grown up (apologies to actual teenagers). |
Oh, snap - I'm sorry. Just went back to read that all through and realized you were all responding to the first smartass PP. My bad. So yes, to that smartass, we should espouse to be more like Germany, Norway, Denmark etc etc etc, not less. They are all robust free market economies that also have solid social programs. You know, places people actually want to live. |
PP, thank you for saving me the trouble of smacking down this ignoramus! I owe you one.
|
See this "ignoramus's" above post. Mea culpa - I misread the whole thing and agree with you both. |
OP here. I thought about these types of countries. But their conditions are about as easy to replicate as if we wanted to become the Vatican. Namely, with the exception of Austria (and I know very little about Austria) they are city-states and less like full countries with all the complexities that attach. |

Monaco basically is a casino town (btw you can't gamble there if you are a citizen, only a tourist). They don't have income taxes, but they do take up to 54% in payroll tax.

Hong Kong (of course its not a country but a Special Administrative Region for the DCUM nitpickers...)
Singapore. |
| OP .. One answer .. america . Sad it is lost to 51% of our country. We WERE the sole exception in theworld. dems arent omfortable with that. Congrats.. We are now one if many nanny staes in the world |
| Fantastic question, OP. |
