The question is just stupid, period. The odds are 50-50. I guarantee you 50% of the people who have tried one of these methods had "success"! |
PP, this is the reason that Jeff separated out the TTC and Infertility Support threads. So that people like you would not admonish unsuspecting posters like the OP, who is just asking a legitimate TTC question. I'm sorry that you find it insensitive, and I'm sorry that you're having trouble conceiving, but I don't think the OP did or said anything wrong. |
Unaccepted science...but I do believe that the female sperm are denser and cannot travel as quickly. I have had three pregnancies. The first two times, I sucessfully tried for boys and concieved within 24-36 hours of ovulation. My third pregnancy was a girl, and we TTC 3-5 day before ovulation. Again a sucess. Good luck! |
I didn't even realize there was a new forum until PP said it. Thanks! -- from someone who has gotten great support from the prior forum and understands the sensitivity! |
no, you are not right. why do you need to think that everyone has a preference just because you do? BTW, I doubt the traditional Chinese methods are that successful - unless you count newborn suppression |
I was going to say this too. No need to jump all over the original poster. "TTC" could be "I just went off the pill and am trying to make a baby" or it could be "I have been trying for 4 years and am considering IVF." The latter situation would be better served on the Infertility Support board. (I tried to have a kid for 3 years before successful IVF but I would not have been upset with this post on a TTC board). |
I don't see anything wrong with this post either. TTC should mean that any getting-pregnant topics are fair game. Even stupid ones about which old wives tales are most accurate. |
DCUM now has an infertility forum AND a TTC forum - so why do all the TTC questions have to be related to infertility or they're considered callous? |
This post was moved to the new TTC forum after it had been posted in the old forum, which was focused more on infertility. The earlier comments were appropriate at the time. |
Geez if she had posted to General Parenting, DCUM would have bumped the post! Since when is the TTC forum just for sad women who have been trying for years to get pregnant? It's called TTC, people!!!!!!! |
Sheesh. Are you pumped full or hormonal drugs? |
She posted "everyone has one gender they prefer over the other right?" and not "everyone has one gender they prefer over the other right!" |
No, they are never appropriate. |
Which comments are never appropriate? I actually opened this post because I'm hoping to conceive a girl. I have a boy, but was very close to my mom and lost her young, so I'd prefer to have a girl this time. What's wrong with that? It doesn't mean I'm not grateful for/in love with my little boy, or that I think a girl would guarantee me the amazing relationship that I had with my mom, or that I don't feel awful for people struggling with infertility. |
S someone who Had had multiple IVFs and multiple miscarriages, I see absolutely nothing wrong with this post either. Completely valid. And while it is true that not everyone has a preference, I would bet that a pretty high percentage of people would like 2 kids. One boy. One girl.
Good luck OP! I have a boy who is the light of my life but drool over all of the girl clothes every time I am in the store! |
