Do you have a problem when parents generically call your children "the special needs kid"

You know, I think all that poster is asking is that you try to remember that a kid is a kid. Period.

I just think people are clueless, and I'm not hopeful about changing most of them. You can say something in a tactful and non-confrontational manner, or you can just let it roll. If it were me, I'd do the latter. I'm not saying "get over it," I just don't know that the clueless will ever get that they are clueless, you know?

Man - people are clueless. I had a dad at a party say to me once that he was SO sure his little girl would be doing much better in 1st grade "if it wasn't for all of those special needs kids in the class!" He had no idea that, um, excuse me, my son is one of those kids. I didn't get into it with him, just shrugged, told him that wasn't my experience at all, and walked away.
