Why can't DC have it's act together like NYC?

Just had to blow off some steam there.

What I meant to say was that on Friday, our DCPS school's regular weekly notice had in the first paragraph was a warning that school might be closed both days and all the ways to stay in contact via twitter, text, FB, good ol' phone, etc.

There are a lot of things to complain about with DCPS, but this is not one of them.

Stay safe all!

There is a difference between a note that your school put out, and DCPS making a statement. I work in a DCPS school and we did not say/send home anything- because we had no word from DCPS.

The weather isn't static. A lot of new information came out today about the trajectory of the storm. No-one wants to close schools unnecessarily. Note, also, that DCPS spoke before the feds, metro, etc.

DCPS sent out a text around 3:00pm

And as it would be, the storm was a dud. Everything closed and it's just a rainy day.

OP, I admire your crow-eating ways. Most of us aren't big enough to admit when we got something wrong.

Back in the Barry era, DC stood for Dysfunctional City.

Much improvement since then under Williams and Fenty, but government under Mayor "One City" more and more does seem like a retro throwback to that earlier sorry time.

I know we come across as weather wimps but I would rather be that than a weather victim.
