Thoughts on neighborhoods to consider in Fairfax County

Do you mean schools in the Langley HS pyramid? I don't think any students in 22182 attend schools in Great Falls. A few neighborhoods in 22182 are assigned to Colvin Run ES in Vienna and Cooper MS and Langley HS in McLean.

You have to check the specific address in 22182 to know the school assignments. Kids in 22182 can be assigned to Marshall, Madison, McLean, South Lakes or Langley HS.

No, I think there may be a few, actually, in 22182 that do go to GF schools. I am thinking in particular the neighborhood across 7 from Colvin Run Mill. . .the name of the neighborhood is escaping me at the moment. . . . it was the neighborhood whose entrance got totally flooded out about 18 months ago when we had that huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge rain storm. . .it took a few days for residents to be able to get in or out again b/c they had to rebuild the entrance into the neighborhood? Anyway, I had friends growing up who lived in that n'hood and they went to GF schools and then (later) to LHS. . . .

OH, I think I remembered the name of this neighborhood! Carper's Farm??

Correction, langley and mclean have the HIGHEST Incomes, not "reputations". Woodson / Marshall are the same or exceed the rankings or Madison or Oakton, and even to an extent Mclean / Langley.

Carpers Farm and Colvin Forest are the two neighborhoods in 22182 that send kids to Colvin Run ES in Vienna, Cooper MS in McLean, and Langley HS in McLean.

They are "Great Falls schools" in the sense that a bunch of kids who live in Great Falls attend them. They just aren't actually in Great Falls (22066).

I agree with 9:03 - start with good commuting locations and go from there. Also, I disagree with the poster who says Woodson has no cachet - it's got a really good reputation and the houses in that boundary sell for more than similar houses in a few neighboring schools.

Thanks- this is what I meant by my pp. We live in one of these neighborhoods and have many friends in the other neighborhood. It's an great area!
