Hot mess zone here: I rarely if ever wear makeup, don't blow dry my hair---it's only about an inch long, what's to dry? And wear either scrubs or jeans and converse/boots. No danskos, though. Those things will break your ankles.
Fortunately, I'm not so bad looking that I need to do that much to look presentable. I prefer the real live look as opposed to lacquered anyday. |

OP here, I love dressing up. Love accessorizing with jewelry, scarves and the like. I don't really wear much make up but am certainly presentable and always well dressed.
It is the hair tho! I went to a "hip" hair salon last year and hated the style they gave me! I looked awful! This happened two times so I always stuck with simple long layers and boring hair that I just wash and wear. When I do have the time I would love to do something nice once in a while but I just don't know how. Where does one learn all this?? A bad haircut lasts a very long time and I am too afraid to go through that again. Also I am new to Fairfax county so my last haircut was haircuttery. I got exactly what I wanted...which was boring but at least not horrific!! |

No, and I also went no-poo so that I rarely have to wash it, either.
The most I do is blow dry it and twist it up in a bun or several while still hot, then scrunch the waves that result. I'd like to get a better haircut that will respond to more styling when I feel like it. |
+1 for me too with the exception of Keratin! I wash my hair every day -- I have two cowlicks on the top of my head and my hair looks like I just rolled out of bed if it is not fully wetted and washed. I then use some product (I love Moroccan Oil but it's expensive so I have a few that I rotate between that protect from heat), section and dry with a round brush, and run the straightener over it very quickly. My hair is incredibly healthy -- in fact, stylists always comment on how soft it is despite the fact that I dry and straighten every day. I am by no means a hair styling expert -- in fact, I think I rather suck at it -- but I had a great stylist who gave me some tips. |
| I don't wash everyday but I NEVER let my hair air dry. I have long frizzy wavy hair that I must blow dry mostly straight. I use Moroccan oil, volume mouse and heat spray. Second day I use more Moroccan oil product on my ends and scrunch some curls. Third day I wear a headband with a braid. Then I wash again or sometimes spray with dry shampoo the night before and wear again! I also never leave the house w/o at least mascara, blush and lip gloss. Even with casual outfits I like to make them look cute/put together. |
| What is this Moroccan Oil you all speak of?? |
One of the pp's who mentioned Moroccan Oil. I have straight fine hair, and this stuff is an expensive godsend that I have been using for a few years now. I use it sparingly: http://www.amazon.com/Moroccan-Hair-Treatment-Bottle-Blue/dp/B001AO0WCG/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1351002862&sr=1-1&keywords=moroccan+oil My hair stylist used this one at my last appointment. I do not own this but would like to buy it -- a bit lighter than the oil: http://www.amazon.com/MoroccanOil-Hydrating-Styling-10-2-Ounce-Bottle/dp/B002CMLS50/ref=sr_1_7?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1351002862&sr=1-7&keywords=moroccan+oil |
Also, I should add that I've tried some of the cheaper, drug store argan oil products (I think Organix brand?) and it was a waste of money. Did not compare to Moroccan oil brand! |
