| Btw, the marshmallows they sell at pangea veg-- Saras I believe, they also carry at the moms market in Rockville. Pang veg is only open from like 12-6 sat and sundayS. |

Whole Foods sells vegan marshmallows.
For PP who mentioned that the amount of animal product is probably minute, that's probably true, but for people who don't eat animals for reasons of conscience that's really not the point. So who cares if it's an allergy or a choice. It's easy to accommodate either way. |
Also carried at Roots market in Olney |
Also there are religious reasons to not eat meat or animal products too. |

DC is very allergic to egg -- like most kids with this, DC also reacts to gelatin, which is a base for marshmellows. We go to Mom's as well as the Co-op for vegan options.
And for those who've decided that snark is better than silence (about something that absolutely does not impact you, except to have gotten your attention as a way of getting attention for yourself): get over yourselves. It's really, really tough to navigate food allergies and I'm sure it's equally tough to navigate dietary restrictions based on principles. It's particularly hard when your children can't have some of the same choices as other children and although they're awfully mature and patient and understand that they'll get sick if they eat XX food, it's still tough. Sorry -- I'm having a tough mom night after a long week and basically already feeling like DC misses out on enough due to food restrictions (given the role that food plays socially, for good or ill); encountering a sanctimonious post just really set me off tonight..... |

Thanks, OP, I'm vegetarian too and have really missed marshmallows! I didn't even know vegetarian marshmallows existed until recently.
I bet most people don't know they're eating crushed up animal bones with their sweet treats! Actually, I am strict myself but have been encouraging my kids to have meat until they are older and can decide for themselves. I don't want them to develop an issue over the texture/taste of meat. But to each their own ... it's a very personal decision. |
