Thanks I feel a lot better now. (I wish Jeff would install the sarcasm font)

I wouldn't have a problem with a male nanny. My friend had one for her daughter and loved him. They lived in Michigan. My daughter's daycare director is a man, and he had a lot of experience working in day care.

Americans have this weird cultural thing about men who like kids - they must be pedophiles/gay/etc. I am from a culture where even "macho" guys can be openly interested in babies and children.

Sorry

I don't think male nannies are child molesters. At work, however, I get more push-back from male subordinates than female ones. I might worry that you wouldn't take direction as well.

I would love to have a male nanny for my son! My brother in law is a child psychologist and has always been wonderful with children - he's silly and fun and they just relate to him so well.

I just don't understand why men aren't allowed to enjoy working with children? It makes no sense to me.

I'm in SF, and we have a guy manny for our DD. I'm not the only one. He has a "guy group" he takes her to once a week filled with SAHDs and guy nannies.

OP, I would take the responses from this site with a grain of salt. The women on here seem to be obsessed with child molestation and think that every man is a predator.

I believe the term we're using now is penis-nanny.

I believe the term is sexual harrassment.

I'm sticking with manny. Still funny.

I'd love to meet you, but I would grill you on the housework aspect of the job - doing the kids laundry, picking up after them etc. That's where my sexism bias would land - that you might not be capable of cleaning up after the kids.

OP here,

Kids laundry is easy and my parents taught me to leave a place cleaner than you found it.

Lest OP lose all hope I know someone who has a male nanny for her 3 boys and they are all very happy. I have 2 DDs and 1 DS, and I would have no problem with a manny, assuming good refs, good vibe, willingness to help with tidying, light dishes, kids' laundry.

OP why not post on the looking for nanny work board here, specifying gender? Bet you'd get some good responses.

I would love a male nanny for my two 3 year old boys. Sadly, I probably can't afford you.
