How long is the commute from home to school(s)?

"Why? Our commute is 30-45 minutes and DC really enjoys it. We talk, we listen to stories and music. I hear a lot more about his day in that time than I would otherwise.

Plus we're at the school that best suits us as a family and our child as a learner and as a person.

That's priceless. "

Do people who commute this long stay in the area of the school, or drive there and back twice a day? I am not sure I could do the latter, but I am not sure what to do (besides look for a job in the area?) hanging out so far from home for that many hours.

I used to drive 35-40 minutes to take my kids to school each day. AFter we changed schools, they said they missed having a lot of time to talk to me.

Their school was near my workplace, so I dropped them at school and then picked them up from aftercare on the way home.

30 minutes by car, or about 50 minutes by Metro.

20 minutes each way.

I enjoy the time I spend with my DS. We really do appreciate the time to talk without other disruptions.

It isn't ideal...but we make the best of it.

Agree great to talk with a child on a long commute but no play dates. Too far for everyone.
