Eh. Except for the sperm donation part, human history has always been full of this.

Where are you getting this from? Nowadays children out of wedlock are considered as important as children conceived in a marriage, even by law. It was never like this before. Bastard children were not as common (and as accepted) as they are nowadays.

Society is taking a turn for the worse and there's no more respect for the institution of family.

I am pretty sure the solution is to hold these bastard children accountable. They should be ostracized! That'll show 'em.

And I submit that although they weren't accepted, I actually believe "bastard" children and all the aberrations from Sam the Eagle's conceptions of decency which PP mentioned were at least equally common way back in PP's unspecific "when". People hid these things, and didn't talk about them... but they sure were happening everywhere and, I think, with equal frequency.

There is a BIG, BIG difference to having "daddy issues" and marrying your biological father. You also don't need to marry someone older than you to have father issues, and there are also many happy couples with large age difference.

Sure, there's a difference... but it's clear something is already off when there's an age gap like that favoring the dirty old man. So this time there was more to the story beyond the obvious ick factor, but, you know, the ick factor was already there.

Think I read that the woman had other problems growing up. Raised by her grandparents, thinking her grandfather was her dad. And finding out later that the woman who came to visit her was really her mom. And she was abused, maybe raped when she was younger? And in an abusive marriage before she married her dad.
