Actually it is more true and based in science than - go to a running store and have someone fit you based on a computer model that will put you in one of three categories, one of which is nearly guaranteed to cause injuries (motion control) |
SOME studies have shown for SOME people that motion control could be a problem. I agree with the person who said you have made a generalization. proponents of barefoot running will tell you everyone should be doing that. Again, not universally true. |
| Echo PPs' advice to go to a specialty running store. I'm a New Balance runner all the way. |
| It is just a matter of luck, what kind of salesperson you get. Running stores employ all kinds of staff and most runners are not shoe salesmen. |
| I buy my Sauconys at RNJ Sports in Rockville. They have a good selection of many brands. I like their salespeople and their prices. |
| I prefer New Balance. Potomac River Running store will have you run a few seconds on a treadmill so the can see what shoe is best for your foot. |
| OP , do try to go to a running store if u can.... I went to one when I was in NYC( jackrabbitsports)....They made me run on treadmill, recorded how my feet moved and then got me shoes to try on...I always wore ASICS and still do ...just a diff model....I tried on brooks n saucony too but ASICS was the best fit for me.... |
| VFF. Invest now to prevent ingrained bad habits later. |
I run in Brooks Trance or Asics Gel-Kayano 18s. I have a wide foot and I wear orthotics. Get fitted by someone who knows what they're doing
