| Ztupid name. |
Best post of the day. |
| I think it's a great name and thought of using it for my child, but we're having a boy....and we still have no name. |
How about Zcott and he can tell people he is Scott with a Z. |
| It would be cute if it didn't mean "grandpa" to most Jewish people. That's what I called my grandfather. |
|
I think it just sounds made-up. Thus, too precious. Like your babynaming process went like this:
"I love the name 'Sadie.'" "Me too. Too bad it's getting too common. Sigh." "I know, how about switch it up a bit! Radie? Tadie? Jadie? I know!! ZADIE!" |
|
OP here - those are kind of the replies I was expecting and some of the reactions I had myself. I did not know that it was the Jewish word for grandpa, though. Also, just wanted to say again that it's not made up by us. It really was my great grandmother's name. She grew up in the rural Midwest in the early 1900s. I guess being creative with names isn't all that new!
I don't like Sadie because I can only think of the Beatles song, Sexy Sadie, and that's just inappropriate for a newborn! |
| It's fine. |
I'm sure all names were made up at one time or another, no? I like Zadie. Btw - Confusing Zara for Sara...really??? That has become a more common name. |
| My girls call both their grandfathers Zaidy. |
| our kids' grandfather is also zayde. |
No. No. No. A million times no. Zadie is an awful name for a child or a dog. |
| Zounds like a Zima commercial |
Jewish isn't a language. It's Yiddish--rather, Zadie is. |
|
I can hear the classroom rhymes now:
Zadie's a shady lady, yeah baby, not maybe |
