Yes we are all aware that the conservatives are ardent supporters of the ACLU. Because they take such a strong stand in support of First Amendment rights. They were right there defending the flag burners in the 60's. They "got" the public displays of the black panthers. They rushed to the defense of Martin Luther King when he used his freedom of assembly to provoke change. And I believe the librarians always count the conservatives among their friends. Because no one defends a book like a conservative. The conservative is the pornographer's friend because the conservative believes in all forms of expression, even ones he does not agree with. That's why Wiccans can count on a conservative to support them when they wish to display their religious symbols on graves at Arlington Cemetery. Because no matter how much you disagree, you are always there for the principle of free expression. Even when you really dislike the content.

I think the bigger difference is abrahamic vs. dharmic religions.

East vs. West philosophy and all that it entails.

At the end of the day, I don't see much difference between Muslim, Jew, and Christians in the grand scheme of things.

I am not ignoring it, there are certainly fanatics that do it in the name of Islam that are brainwashing the young, lost and uneducated to do the dirty work. But they do not represent the MAJORITY of Muslims. It is truly sad that all of these religions are fighting over the same God....if only they could focus the energy on faith and peace.

I posted the beheading comment (twice accidentally). I agree. It is very sad and must be very disheartening for the normal folks of that faith. The worst thing is that their fanatics are so terrifyingly 4th century. I can't imagine how scary it must be if you are of that religion and want to speak up against these people and their scores of followers. No one wants to have their head cut off or their family killed because some radical nut case thinks that you are an infidel.
