I'm the Orthodox Christian poster above. I've visited Catholic churches in this country where there are signs strongly suggesting forms of dress. And some Protestants wear modest dress even outside of the church. I think there are quite a few Latina evangelical women who wear long dresses and lacy mantilla like things on their heads.
I actually kind of like modesty in dress for BOTH men and women. The problem is it is often more directed toward women. Many Orthodox churches do have long lists of strong suggestions for modest dress, but some of it (e.g., wearing a head scarf) is directed solely at women. |
