I've only just gotten into the habit of pedis and do them every 2mos or so. In between I touch up the polish myself.
Usually during naptime. Like another PP, weekend time is precious. DD and I enjoy grocery shopping together so we do that after she wakes up from her nap. Or, I'll plan it as time with a GF and call it my social girl's time so that DH can't get peeved. |
| WOHM here -- only do pedi every 2-3 weeks. Usually after work (place next to my house is open later) or at lunch and wear flip flops back to work. Since it's only a pedi, it takes 30 min or less. |
|
About every 3 weeks, pedi & eyebrow wax. Try to do it over lunch hour on a work-at-home day. Otherwise, I run out during the weekend to do it, but it does mean my husband has to be available. But we're pretty good about trading off so we can both do stuff we need/want to do.
But - 90 minutes for a mani/pedi? Should only take an hour. Maybe you're including travel time? |

Never have manis. Used to get a once a month pedi when I had one kid, would go at naptime on Saturday.
Since DS came along, I decided to do them at home. I am very good at it, and use the time to catch up on TV series. It is also good to not be afraid of germs. |
| No mani, just pedi's every 3 weeks or so. I do a walk in near chinatown or dupont. DS and DH sometimes get their haircuts at the same time. |
| Long lunch on Thursdays. Salon is slower and I can enjoy it more than trying to rush around on the weekend for it. |
| Diy. I prep nails the night before (shape, remove polish) and do a quick paint job followed by quick dry topcoat. The hardest thing is planning ahead for some time of day when I won't have to touch anything for 20 min. I do nails every week and toes every other. I never really liked going to the nail salon so I don't mind doing it at home. |
Well it's not an essential. It's up to you whether you're willing to give up a bit of family time and it's perfectly OK to say you won't. Just keep your nails neatly trimmed and filed and you will be fine. That said, why can't you go during naptime and your DH can stay home and get his relaxation time in too? |
| Never. But I've never really been a mani/pedi person - it seems like a lot of money. I do my nails myself every week or two, usually with my girls. |
I don't do professional mani/pedis, but I have the same problem trying to find time to get my hair cut.
|
| Sunday afternoons,bi-weekly, right when they open so I don't have to wait in line. Surely, DH can take care of the household while you get 2 hours of me time. |
| Pedis only. I go on my lunch hour. |
| We have "summer hours" and close the office at 3 on Fridays so I've been using that time. Come fall, I will go sometime on Sat or Sun. I often take my older son with me, along with the iPad. I always tip a bit extra because they're usually so nice to him. This way DH can relax while the younger one sleeps. |
| My assistant wondered by at 4:20 today and mentioned that my boss left for the day. I was like a bat out of hell out of there to the pedicure place in Bethesda. Made it home by 6 to relieve the nanny. Seize the moment! |
| Pedis only for me as well. I go during work hours with a colleague and discuss work for at least a few minutes to keep the whole "skipping work" guilt at bay. |
